Sustainable development goals for a better future

The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of 17 global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”, set in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and intended to be achieved by the year 2030. The motto of the goals is “Leave No One Behind” and the role of the youth in achieving these goals are mandatory for success, to ensure the planet a common, bright, and sustainable future.

Why it matters?

A disability-friendly community considers the needs of people with disabilities and aims to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. There are many reasons why we want to create such a community.

We believe that everyone has the right to live a life of dignity and well-being, regardless of their disability. An inclusive society is one that is richer and more vibrant for everyone. When people with disabilities are able to participate fully in all aspects of community life, we all benefit.

The World Bank estimates that around 26.8% of the population of India lives with a disability
Only 38% of households in India are digitally literate.

According to a 2020 report by the National Statistical Office (NSO), only around 34% of Indian adults have basic digital literacy skills, such as being able to send and receive emails and use search engines.

According to report by the International Telecommunication Union, India ranks 116th out of 175 countries in terms of overall digital literacy.
